“I always try to put myself into my photographs. Usually, it's through an event or a feeling that I am being influenced by in my life at any given moment. The camera is just a black box. I never deliberately try to get too technical. It happens, but only as a result of a particular emotion that is forcing me to shoot in a particular way. Emotion and imagination are key. I take documentary photographs and turn them into something else. They are what they are, but when they come into my world, I place them into different contexts. Nothing is ever what it seems to be.”
