First American edition of China: A Photohistory by various Magnum Photographers. First impression. Medium format hardback in near fine condition. Some minor shelf wear to the outer edges of the dust jacket only.
The archives of the great picture agency Magnum were opened in order to select their best photographs recording the evolution of China from its Nationalist rule fifty years ago, to the Communist country it is today. Included are photographs by Cartier-Bresson, Inge Morath, Marc Riboud, Rene Burri, and Helen Snow. Many of the photographs have not been published in book form before and result in a fascinating portrait of a quickly changing culture.
